Wytch Cult

” Two hundred years ago this pict was taken.”

Reanna Fleetfoot handed the old pict to the Master Guides sitting before her in a semicircle. They each in turn looked at it and then looked at each other.

” We are aware of this image. It was also documented that the monster was killed around the same time. Why do you bring this to us?”

” A survivor my Lords.”

” A survivor from where? Please Reanna get to the point! ”

” The man was found about fifty miles west from here and when I passed through the town  of Acre Hill recently the folk pleaded to me to hear him out. They were extremely fearful and some of the older folk were talking of daemons and wytch cults.”

At the mention of those words the Masters began whispering to each other. Reanna waited to speak again. After a moment the whispering stopped.

” Tell us what this man said”

” He claimed his village was attacked and destroyed by monsters from the deep woods and that many village folk were taken and many more were flayed. He told me the village was called Greybush and which direction it lay. I left the town at that point to find this village. What I found was destruction and murder of the most cruel nature. I then returned and asked to see the man again. I asked how he survived such horror and he said he was returning from hunting when the attack happened. He watched the whole thing knowing he couldn’t do a thing about it. He then fled to Acre Hill. My lords the man described a monster that is a likeness for the one in the image”

” Impossible! The beast was slain, the reports tell us it was cleansed by fire!”

The whispering started again and lasted many minutes. Reanna stood still head bowed waiting for it to stop. When it did.

” Reanna you are a very inquisitive, clever and honest guide and over the years you have brought many incidents to our attention. On this instance though we will need more proof. If you can bring it to us we will act with all our influence. Bring us the survivor first, with force if need be. You may go.”

As Reanna Fleetfoot left the hall the whispering started again.

” What if she is right?

Then the histories got something wrong”

We didn’t tell her about the two missing guides, last seen around that area.”

” We will if her findings are true.”

” If the Wytch cults are active again and that monster is leading them with such brazen displays of carnage then we have a real problem on our hands.”

” Then we will deal with it as we always have, getting the guides to lead a traveller group of significant force and ability right to them and force confrontation. Even if they get killed they would have dealt a severe blow to those monsters and we can always guide more to finish the job.”

” That’s right we know there is a considerable rise in travellers seeking entrance to The Chapel.”

” That is worrying in itself! So much activity can only mean things beneath our feet are going to get worse.”

” The Call has been sent then?”

” I believe it must have, it’s the only explanation.”

” Then we must be ready. Things will escalate quickly and we have our role to play.”

Here are the beginnings of the Wytch Cult you unsuspecting travellers will be confronting in the depths of the Albino Woods.

The road to The Chapel is a dangerous one.

  1. Ahh yeah! Brilliant mate! The Master & Apprentice are spot on, as are the Hackas, but those baby-faced spores are a whole new level of creepy… Love ’em!

      1. You clever thing… I had a feeling that was the case. We must chat about this 3D printing malarky when me meet mate… it sounds like wytchcraft!

      2. How about knocking out an Eldar Wraithlord/Wraithguard type head, but human sized… do you remember the old Rogue Trader Eldar assasin droid? Like that 🙂

  2. Lovely and creepy! The masked spore mines are my favourite, they’re like a twisted bio-mechanical version of the classic servo skull.
I wonder how they’ll react to the raw power of the warp? 😉

  3. Excellent work on the warband! I especially love the Master/Wytch – a truly creepy creation. Puts me in mind of one of the demons from the “Conjuring” movies.

I admittedly lurk on a number of 40K/INQ28 blogs and have been meaning to comment more. I think the Chapel Project is truly amazing, exciting stuff that showcases just how much one can really do with this hobby of ours. So, to you and the others – keep up the inspiring work!

  4. Fantastic use of Spore Mines. About 12-13 years ago White Dwarf had Chapter Approved rules that used Spore Mines. The rules were for Enslavers- they had mind control over an army. These conversions fit the bill.
