Well it looks like this year could be the year of the monthly challenge. I think this is a great way to get things done and when Alex of the wonderful Leadballoony had the idea to make Fembruary I jumped at the chance. I have quite a few female models that need starting, like my Escher Gang, but I thought this needed something special so I broke out one of my Femme Militants.

So here she is my model for the Fembruary challenge, Varangii.

  1. She’s fantastic. Love the simplicity of colours

    1. Thanks mate. Yes I wanted to go for a monochromatic effect. It sets such a lovely mood for a model.

  2. Ho boy, she’s fantastic mate. That’s one of the limited run of JB minis at a bigger scale, yeah? Superb!

    1. Cheers mate. She was a joy to paint. I’m not sure about that, I bought her years ago without the tin so I don’t think shes original, she’s about 42mm tall.

      1. Very nice – pretty rare too! 🙂

      2. Yeah. I have six in total.

  3. Beautiful work mate, the colours are just exquisite and the plinth she’s standing on is truly outstanding.

    1. Thanks my friend. Yes the plinth has been sitting around for years begging to be used. I made it by carving a block of plaster and then molding it and casting it in resin. I might still have the mold somewhere.

  4. Very cool mate. Lovely model and the paint job is spot on. I love the way you used a very controlled and restricted palette. Great work!

    1. Thanks. Yes I really enjoyed painting that way. I think I’ll be doing it more.
