Hello peeps! As the time goes by and we find that our time at home has been extended I find myself thinking of the future and what would happen if after all the furlough I won’t have a job to go back to. It’s a problem quite a few of us will face and so I’ve been using this time to get my Mag Bellum venture up and running properly. It has taken some time to be sure and I’ve had some good feed back from people so now I feel the time has come. The system works and I would love to share it with you!
The way this will start will be with Patreon. Patreon if you don’t know is site for artists and the like that you can sign up with and for a fee help them continue with their work. You get something for your money and in my case you will get 3D models to print and create your own Mag Bellum boards.
As well as Patreon I will be offering a service for those who want the product but don’t have the means to make it. This will take a bit of time to sort out though but I’m thinking along the lines of it being like a commission, so only making two or so orders at a time. So lots to do still but I’m very close to launch and I’ll be updating as I go along on Instagram and here. Well, I think that’s about it for now. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome and I’ll leave you with a few shots of what will be on offer should you choose to support me on this journey.
Some of you may have seen this already but this time it’s with more info!
I started making this box a while ago and the one you see in this post is the prototype of a kit. The idea of cool travel boxes is awesome, with the likes of Nicolas Grillet doing some truly inspired work and it got me thinking about making a kit that you can customize to create your own box of grim dark.
In this kit you get 8 wall sections that make 4 walls, 4 lid corners with inserts and a blank plate for the middle, 4 floor sections and 2 flag stones. You also get the wooden box that comes blank and ready for whatever staining or painting you wish and a steel plate that your magnetized models will stick to.
The design of the parts are pretty blank with only a few details, this is so you can use your own bits and textures to make it original. There’s lots of space to do so, the box is 29cm x 24.5cm x 15.5cm in size. Most of the kit is 3D printed in grey plastic with the rest of the parts cast in grey resin. This will change to fully cast in resin in the near future.
So there you have it. Now it’s on to making one for an order and depending on how busy I am they can take up to three weeks to complete. I will post an image of that order before it gets sent so you can all see it in its blank, hurry up and paint me, stage 🙂 Any questions please ask and if you are interested in one for yourself please contact me via email as found on my about page. The cost of these depends on where you are in the world as the postage for one can be hefty due to its size and weight.
Today I’d like to tell you about a pretty cool thing that happened about a month ago now and since then I’ve been working on it when I was able, but now it’s finished ( Hurrah ) it is time to share.
Its not every day you get to have a chat with one of your heros but this is what happened to me when John Blanche contacted me to say he really liked my work and was interested in a few pieces I had made. Conversation about all sorts was had and it ended with him giving me permission to make a model for him based on one of my favorite character images of his.
Now as you can imagine that truely made my day, month and year. It’s an honour to be able to turn one of his visions into a model and get to name it to. So may I present The Penitent of Sorrow. She who walks the ashes to redemption.
The model is 40mm scale and I hope you all approve as it was a joy to create. Now it’s onto printing it.
Today I’d like to present to you a fellow contributer to The Chapel project. Ahmad Alibrahing or as some of you may know him as Stygian Thorne. If you have an Instagram account then get following him as his art is wonderful and very Blanchian.
He has been so kind as to do a few pieces for The Chapel and he says there is more to come so watch this space and get inspired. Here’s what he’s done so far.
Pretty cool huh?
With his contributions The Chapel comes full circle. Idea, stories, miniatures, scenery and art.
As you may be aware The Chapel has an effect on those who enter and so to represent this in the games I am creating two decks of cards. The rules are being written at the moment but I’d thought I’d share with you the art work for the face of each deck.
The cards will be printed on quaility card and depending on price I should be able to get a few sets printed up.
The Albino Woods to be precise. Yes it’s time to delve into that mysterious region of The Chapel, from its flora and fauna to the folk who inhabit the many towns that surround it and of course the many dangers that dwell within it. I’d also like to expand on the Guild of the Ostium Guides and the role it plays with the populations of the surface.
All ideas are welcome and let the inspiration flow! Lets all get lost in the Albino Woods 🙂
To start things off here’s a free wallpaper of nasty things to come!
Here I sit on an impossible chair. Charged with what seems to be an impossible task.
I sift through endless words looking for signs from histories past with eyes that were never mine, they are seeking something now aware that the ticking of time is passing by.
This much I know. The balance, that most delicate of things, is being tested. From the surface and from within stirrings from the depths of this our home threaten to tip that balance. A sighting of the Angel was the first sign that things are changing. That bright herald, blazing with light and blood soaked intentions, how many have been claimed so far?……… A name, that name again. They read it repeated, a name of fear, of change, a thing that should not exist but must. The name of The Heptameron. The eyes tell me much of the power it wields and of the suffering that will come.
Page after page, snippets of knowledge, useful knowledge gathers in my mind and on this day my Lady Elect has much to learn from me. The Sentinels have been busy culling those who would enter as that thrice damned Guild of The Ostium guides bring travellers from afar. Most are unworthy of the Call and fall on my Ladies blade or burn from righteous fire. Others, though tested, have made it through and aloud to seek whatever it is they have been called to seek. For better or worse only time will tell but the blood of innocents will run freely before the end.
Such doom, history is made up of this. I want to cry but the eyes do not, tears of blood they assure me shall be shed soon enough. I grip my sword knowing they are right. After all The Call has been cast and of those near the core no sign as yet been seen. They could be the key? The eyes do not read much about them. I must know more for time is passing. I need eyes! More eyes! Trusted eyes.
