Stylites Comp and Terrain

Hello all.

So the Stylites comp deadline has passed but I’m going to extend it. The final date will be the 15th of November 2018. This I hope will allow all you busy people the chance to finish or even begin your entry for the comp. The prize of which is this giant skull crab.

The other reason is that I’ve been so busy with life and other projects that I’ve not had the chance to create my own Penitent, which is just shocking and I’m not having it πŸ˜‰

So take your time for a bit and come up with some truly deranged characters. For inspiration you should head over toΒ LeadballoonyΒ and see what Alex, my partner in crime on this project, Β has been up to. He made some pretty sad and debased denizens of The Chapel for this game.

To finish things off today I have some images of the Stylites kit that will be hitting the shop for those of you who are interested buying a set to play the game. Or, if you are inclined, you can just make your own. The rules are free and can be foundΒ here.

The kit is designed to come apart so you can store it away easily

Please keep in mind that if you do order a set it may take a while to arrive as I’ve got to make them to order and being a one man band that can take a while. I aim to have kits done in a two-week turnaround per order. Also note that the magnets and poles are not included, the reason for this is time ( they come from China ) and to keep the cost down. They can be sourced from Ebay easily. Search for – White ABS Styrene Plastic Strip Tube Round Bar Rods Square Bar Rod 250mm Length, 10mm Diameter x 10. For the magnets –Β N35Β (13x6x1.5mm) Strong neodymium block magnets.Β

If you are outside UK and Euro and want a kit then please email me and we can arrange postage costs.

Thank you.

Stylites Game

Hello all.

So last weekend I got together with Alex of Leadballony and we had a few games of Stylites, a game that Alex and I wrote one hot summers day. It was the first time we played on the board I designed and I tell you what it’s a pretty brutal game.

game1

The rules, which you can find here, are very simple allowing for very quick games of stylite hopping, servo skull dodging madness.

game3

One of the things we found was that the penitents that occupy some of the stylites are tough buggers and I found myself being battered off an occupied stylite more than once ( rolling damn 1’s ) ending the game as my character plummeted to the ground with a wet thud.

game9
Get off my Stylite!!

After playing a few two player games we decided to play some four player ones and this is where things got interesting. Hacked servo skulls flying around all over the place! Cruel shoving, bad fumbles and just hanging on for dear life after being smacked around by an insane penitent. All good fun πŸ™‚

game4
I dare you skull- jacker!
game8
Take that! You smelly bastard!
game12
Now come to Papa.

All in all much fun was had and don’t forget to design your own Skull – Jackers and penitents for your chance to win the monster Skull Crab. Here’s some more images from the day. Cheers! πŸ™‚

Penitent Poles

Greetings all!

I’ve been away from the hobby for a while due to getting married in Oz last month and all the life comings and goings that goes with it. Now though I’m back on it, and oh how I’ve missed it πŸ˜‰ Also it looks like I have loads to catch up on to. You busy bunch!

So to kick things off I’d like to introduce a concept for a game called Penitent Poles but before I do let me introduce a couple of misguided loons.

The penitent poles

These two used to have the holy task of maintaining servo skulls but after many years they have lost their minds and now they jump from penitent pole to penitent pole capturing servo skulls and messing with their protocols before sending them on their way to do god knows what to who. Insanity rules the Imperium of man so they say and these two wayward souls are testament to that.

Right so the game will go like this : Two teams of three take to a board made up of penitent poles with the aim to knock off or kill each other. Sounds simple yes? But wait, servo skulls will be floating around the place. You will be able to capture these and set them against your enemy but your enemy can recapture them and turn them back against you also. This will be determined by a series of dice rolls which I’ll think on a bit more. To add to the mayhem some of the poles will be occupied by penitents and these are best avoided but that’s not always going to be the case and you may find yourself tackling a truly insane soul hell-bent on killing you for disturbing his/her penance.

Obviously this still needs a lot of thought but I think it’ll be great fun and games will be quick as the board won’t be that big. I will be creating mine starting now as this is a precursor to the next Chapel, which I have also been working on.

So any thoughts or suggestions are welcome and once it’s all done I’d like the opportunity to knock a few of you off your poles πŸ˜‰

Sofiel

β€œ Sister Sofiel. It is with a heavy heart that I exile you from this most righteous of orders and send you on a personal crusade of redemption. Your actions have shown that your soul is impure and so, with only your armour and blade, you are herby banished and condemned to live the life of a penitent. Go now and die in whatever fashion your soul deems right.”

Those words still rang in her head even after all these years. To be shunned by her order in such a fashion left her bitter and torn. Were her actions that day so wrong? Pasfael has said that life isn’t so black and white as some in power think and after spending some time in the Inquisitors retinue she could see that. Actions that would be deemed wrong have had the most positive of outcomes, whilst some have just led to more disaster, but surely to do nothing would be the worst action of all. If she did nothing that day thousands would have died instead of hundreds. She sacrificed her sisters and herself to save innocents. The fact that she survived instead was a cruel joke, oh how she wished she had died with her sisters, she should have died there! Then she wouldn’t have to live with this shame.

She buried her head in her hands and flinched when she felt her scares the physical proof of her impurity. She ran her hand over the rough texture of her skin.

β€œ If you play with it too much you’ll go blind.” Came a metallic voice from behind her.

She turned around to see the savant Formsworth looking at her.

β€œ What do you want Formsworth?” She asked in a slightly irritated tone.

β€œ I want for nothing dear lady, I have given up all that I was so I could be all that I am.”

She smiled a little at that. She liked Formsworth, he was gentle and wise and always smelled of ink and parchment, but it was the way he spoke that was most endearing. You always had to look for the hidden meaning in some of the things he said.

β€œ The sooner you accept that the same as happened to you, the sooner those scars you carry will heal. Your face on the other hand….. Well your stuck with those I’m afraid, but they will become softer to your eyes in time.”

Sofiel nodded and said

β€œ Pasfael has said the same. Time heals all…. What do yo want though? Has our Lord Gale summoned me?”

β€œ He has summoned us all my dear sister in grey. We are to discuss our next move and the implications of such actions. I’m afraid this may test us in the extreme.” His metallic voice almost sounded excited. β€œ Come on. β€œ He said as he shuffled away trailing parchment as he went.

Sofiel looked down and thought to herself that she is always being tested. How could she heal her broken faith. She considered that maybe, no matter what Pasfael said, she is never meant to. Maybe the Emperor is testing her, but all it feels like is a series of events that have left her lost and split in half. Only when she was slaying did she feel at peace. All thoughts focused on the hate of those she killed and not the shame in her heart.

β€œ Come on!” Formsworth called β€œ Sacrifice is expected!”

She took a deep breath and walked out of her quarters it seems there would be no end to the sacrifice. Only in death will duty truly end.
